Manga/Anime Newspaper Column Comes To An End

Mike Rhode caught this and sent it along, and I think you can either see it as publishing news of its own or as another sign that the entire comics community is entering into a restrictive cycle after a long, expansive one: "Cel Shaded," Jason Yadao's newspaper column on manga and anime, is ending according to a brief note at the bottom of the latest installment. A related blog will continue. One imagines having any such column for any length of time would be a career milestone for any writer about comics, so we wish Yadao congratulations on the run and best of luck with the blog and any future writings.

As a possible addendum to that story, it looks Jeff Kapalka is no longer going to be writing about comics and games for his current clients -- I'm a little bit less clear who that client is and the exact nature and scope of the column, but it looks like the cessation of another long run writing about hobby news for a mainstream news source.
