Missed It: Departures And Developments
* congratulations to Lance Fenstersman at Reed Exhibitions
for his promotion to better seize the controls of Reed's now major pop culture show arm. As the article points out, basically a UFC-related show, the Penny Arcade Expo east coast show and the just-announced partnership with Lucasfilm on a massive Star Wars-related show will join Reed's comics shows under Fensterman's guidance while BEA (Book Expo America) will go to a new show-runner. That might actually be more interesting for the BEA development: that show is in a place where it could change a great deal over the next few years.
* for some reason I forgot to mention
David Maisel's departure from Marvel Studios as a consequence of this month's finalization of the Marvel/Disney deal. Maisel was a key figure in crafting the unique production strategy that moved Marvel from licensing to making films, and was also crucial in the Marvel/Disney talks. He'll hold onto a few Executive Producer credits, make a whole lot of money and be able to get way better seats in restaurants for the foreseeable future.
