Your Danish Cartoons Hangover Update
There's a bunch of stuff scattered around the Internet in terms of Monday's foiled plot to assassinate the "turban as bomb" Jyllands-Posten cartoonist Kurt Westergaard and the subsequent decision of newspapers to publish Westergaard's cartoon -- some for the first time, others for the the first time since the cartoons became a worldwide issue in late 2005/early 2006: Metabunkerhas great photo; one organization called on US newspapers to follow suit and republish the cartoon out of solidarity, Iran called in the Danish ambassador for a talking-to, and an article in the Post-Intelligencer with which I greatly sympathize wonders if acting in solidarity with Jyllands-Posten brings with it an endorsement of the provocative elements deriving from the stunt nature of their original publication.
In a news development, it looks like the Danish courts are going to hold two of three men arrested rather than immediately deport them as had first been believed. The article says that the two Tunisian nationals will appeal the deportation order.
