Random Comics News Story Round-Up

*
that's a very winning headline.

* I don't get to read as many superhero comics as I would like to, but one thing that says a superhero comic is a pretty good one is that when I see some art on-line I re-read the sequence.
Here's one such superhero comic. I'm always a little distrustful of work that seems better in hindsight than it did at the time, but the Morrison/Quitely
X-Men comics were pretty good at the time.
* speaking of superheroics, Marvel
has yet to give up on the idea of mainstream the world-building parts of its 1970s dip into classic horror narratives into its modern superhero universe. You know, there's probably some storytelling juice to be had from all of that material, there's so much of it there, but it will take a clever writer to draw it out. Maybe they've found that person, or maybe they will two or three writers down the line.
* one more with our friends in tights:
recent superhero comic books out there that out-there art-comics publisher Dan Nadel enjoyed.
* I can't remember if I posted this or not, but it's worth a second look: Matt Seneca
went to Frank Santoro's art show. Bonus: Fran Santoro
stayed in Ron Rege's home.
*
digital and print are different audiences.
* not comics:
here are some random books Marc Arsenault picked up just because he thought the cover design was awesome.
*
Inkstuds features
a talk with Ho Che Anderson. That guy is a natural talker, so if you've never had the pleasure, download that one for the gym.
* not comics: Mark Evanier
talking about the struggling Spider-Man musical is the blogosphere's version of perfect casting.
* I think Marvel has done a pretty good job
with this Fantastic Four promotion, given all the recent history that fights against it working on any level whatsoever. Still kind of creepy, though.
* finally, the CBLDF
is offering up a Paul Pope print to those able to join at one of a pair of their premium levels. Pope's prints are usually very handsome, so if you were thinking about making that kind of donation/membership payment, now's the time.
