Random Comics News Story Round-Up

* what if Time added a comics section and nobody noticed?

image* I always love reading Douglas Wolk on the Hernandez Brothers.

* I enjoyed this post from the writer James Vance about working on a Predator story years ago. It's funny how the strangest jobs can elicit a rush of very specific memories.

* here's a translation of a German-language article about IDW's presidential candidates comics.

* people keep e-mailing me this dire assessment of the future of newspapers. I'm not as negative as this gentleman, but I think many of the things he points to are real concerns.

* here's a much linked-to post from Andrew Wheeler about why big chains and other sources for book sales might pass on taking on a book -- your book, even.

* finally, there's no way to tell exactly what the heck or who the heck actor/playwright Eric Begosian is talking about when he decries the deals he's been offered after pitching a graphic novel to various companies, except that DC Comics or one of its imprints is almost certainly one of them. The important thing to note here is that the hang-up is media rights, an increasingly tough area of negotiation for comics companies with an eye on Hollywood.
