* one of the writers at the Inkwell Bookstore -- I can't tell which one, probably because I'm dumb -- has contributed a list of the best comics they read in 2009, a slightly different effort than naming the best comics published in a calendar year. It's still a lot of fun to read, though.
* Richard Thompson has announced a Cul De Sac-related contest -- with a lovely, colored panel, besides.
* I have regrettably little patience for posts about elements of comics craft, but I find quite fascinating these posts from modern lettering giant Todd Klein where he looks at old comic book logos. Here's the latest.
* Frank Santoro takes a look at Klaus Janson, colorist.
* David Paccia is running the results of a survey he sent out to several cartoonists. Be warned in that I think music may have come on one of the times I went over there.
* the guys at The Cool Kids Table write about the decade in comics in terms of their personal interactions with them. That sounds kind of gross the way I wrote it; the post itself is much sweeter.
* finally, Johanna Draper Carlson recommends an essay by webcomics cartoonist Brad Guigar about what to expect doing that kind of a project over the first four years of its existence. Johanna points out that a lot of the advice Guigar offers can be translated into wisdom regarding other kinds of creative endeavors.
