Recent Kirby/Marvel Rulings Explained

CR noticed last week that a judge had tossed a bunch of counterclaims by the Kirby family in their legal battle against Marvel, a battle seeking the assignment of rights to characters Jack Kirby created or co-created for the entertainment company during a time when the details of his exact working arrangement with the company is at issue. This article explains what happened, which was essentially the judge dispensing of some of the more out-ther claims, boiling the forthcoming legal tussle down to its primary issues. The post also notes a side-point, that Marvel was allowed to sidestep some required accounting for the time being. Anything else I'd have to say would just be parroting the points in the article, so please go read that.
