Fantagraphics and Drawn and Quarterly both have stores now through which they've leveraged a significant amount of attention in ways that I think benefit them as a whole. SLG was making use of its space more publicly a few years back; Image runs its Expo in its adopted home area. I think having a local identity can be a very advantageous thing for a comics entity.
