Your 2008 Erlangen Festival Winners

imageSeveral juried awards were given out in conjunction with Germany's Erlangen Festival, now in its third decade as the closest German equivalent to the kind of major comics festival found at Angouleme. The grand prize, which is awarded to an comics author based on their lifetime work, went to comics writer Alan Moore. Among the other prize winners were David B., Anke Feuchtenberger and Nicolas Mahler. Hansrudi Wascher and Hannes Hegen, two pioneers of European comics, took home a special juried prize.

The previous grand prize winner was Jacques Tardi, who received the award in 2006.

The jury was Bodo Birk, Brigitte Helbling, Herbert Heinzelmann, Andreas C. Knigge, Andreas Platthaus, Denis Scheck and Jan Taussig.
